ACCS Complex Systems Winter School

The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia; 4-8 July 2005

Presentations from 2005 Complex Systems Winter School are available.

Complex systems science is an emerging discipline developing new ways of investigating complex systems across diverse areas such as biology, social networks and socio-technological systems, economics, ecology and the environment.

Complex systems pervade the modern world. Individuals, societies, economies and environments are highly interconnected by intricate, dynamically changing networks. Actions in one part of the network can have unexpected consequences in other parts.

The ARC Centre for Complex Systems invites honours, early-program PhD, and high-achieving third year students from Australia and New Zealand to participate in its Complex Systems Winter School. Students in Biology, Mathematics, Economics and Computer Science are particularly invited.

Through a mix of lectures and hands-on challenges, participants will gain an understanding of complex systems science and its application to real-life scenarios.

Generous travel and accommodation scholarships were on offer.
