ACCS Scholarships Terms & Conditions

Note: The ACCS is not able to enrol students in the PhD Program directly; instead, students will be required to enrol through Schools: eg School of ITEE, School of Economics. As a result School policies and procedures may apply over and above those given below.

Scholarship Eligibility

This Scholarship is for students enrolled for a research higher degree at UQ on a full-time internal basis.

Obligations of Students

  • Students shall diligently and to the best of their ability apply themselves to the successful completion of their degree.
  • Students are required to conform to University regulations (including disciplinary provisions).
  • Students are required to sign a Deed of Confidentiality & Assignment of Student Intellectual Property.
  • Students will be expected to participate in one or more ACCS workshops each year, and to be prepared to give a short presentation on their project each year.
  • Students accepting this scholarship will be limited to doing no more than 9 hours per week outside work.
  • An ACCS Chief Investigator shall be involved as a PhD Advisor.
  • Notification in writing to the School Postgraduate Coordinator is required if the student:
    1. Wishes to defer, transfer, or withdraw from the approved program.
    2. Is absent for any reason (other than recreation leave) for a period of 14 days or more from the place of study, except with prior approval of the School Postgraduate Coordinator.

Termination of Award

The Scholarship will be terminated:

  • If, after due inquiry, the School concludes that the student has not fulfilled obligations under the PhD program, or is not making satisfactory progress.
  • If the student has not resumed study after an approved maximum period of interruption of 1 year.
  • If the student transfers to another program in UQ or withdraws from the University.
  • If the student fails to maintain full-time study.
